Time to Map Off!
The fertile soils of the Maryhill Winery are not only excellent for the ~10 varieties of grapes, they are also fantastic for peaches, nectarines, cherries and rock concerts. This large scale Map Off is based off an annotated air photo (download link below) and the challenge is to create a map illustrating the locations of the different fruit grown around the estate. This finished product should be submitted as an Adobe PDF no larger than 11" x 17" and be based on this 2Mb file. The cartographer in this Map Off has the freedom to design what they think appropriate for the purpose of handing out to visitors of the winery interested in knowing what is growing where. It is assumed the participant will create a unique cartographic piece using the included file for reference. The map does not need to contain an aerial image and the cartographer can decide to explicitly label the different areas or create reference symbology and a legend. Electronic submissions in PDF format are due by midnight on Sunday, September 30th. Please send submissions and any questions to Matthew Hampton - Matthew(at)nacis.org ![]()
